GATE 2027 is only a few months away. If you are preparing now, focus less on covering every possible resource and more on concepts, PYQs, revision, and mock tests.
1. Know the syllabus
Start by going through the complete GATE CS syllabus. Divide it into subjects and smaller topics.
Do not try to study everything at once. Pick one subject, finish a reasonable set of topics, and then practice questions.
2. Follow this cycle
For every topic, use this simple process:
Learn → Solve → Analyze → Revise
Learn the concept, solve questions without looking at the solution, understand your mistakes, and revise the topic later.
3. PYQs are extremely important
Solve GATE Previous Year Questions after studying each topic.
While solving PYQs, ask yourself:

Why is this the correct answer?

Why are the other options wrong?

Which concept is being tested?

Did I make a conceptual or calculation mistake?
Do not treat PYQs as just another question bank. Use them to understand how GATE asks questions.
4. Do not postpone revision
Keep revisiting old topics while learning new ones.
A simple approach is:
Daily: Learn new concepts + solve questions
Weekly: Revise everything studied that week
Monthly: Take a larger test and review weak areas
5. Start testing yourself
You do not need to wait until the entire syllabus is complete before taking tests.
Start with topic-wise tests, then subject-wise tests, and eventually full-length GATE mock tests.
The most important part of a mock test is the analysis after the test. Identify why you lost each mark and make sure you do not repeat the same mistake.
6. Give enough attention to General Aptitude and Mathematics
General Aptitude and Engineering Mathematics can contribute a significant number of marks. Do not leave them entirely for the end.
Practice them regularly alongside your CS subjects.
7. Suggested plan
September to October:
Build concepts and cover the major subjects. Solve PYQs alongside your preparation.
November to December:
Complete the remaining syllabus. Focus more heavily on PYQs and subject-wise tests.
January:
Prioritize revision, PYQs, mock tests, and weak topics.
February:
Avoid learning large amounts of new material. Focus on revision, formulas, short notes, mistakes, and mock-test analysis.
Most important rule
With only a few months left, do not waste time switching between resources.
Pick good resources, follow a plan, solve questions every day, analyze your mistakes, and revise repeatedly.
You do not need a perfect preparation strategy. You need a strategy that you can follow consistently until the exam.
